Straight south Saturday
Hello Friends,
At 0600 the swell at sea was 3.5 metres at 12-13 seconds from the SSE and the wind was SW at 11-17 kts. In a few hours the wind will be southerly and the surf options will dwindle to only the most protected locations.
As you can see from the pictures, the open stretches are not really an option, while a corner like Dee Why is solid but not spectacularly big. It looked pretty consistent though, so at least you won’t be waiting around for a chance. But you have to get on it soon.
Swell should stick around in the reasonable size range into early next week, but the problem is that it also looks like the wind will be southerly until Wednesday.
Go well with your Saturday plans and stay safe folks.
Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred to the south of the Bight extends a ridge into western New South Wales, while a low lies over the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern will remain relatively unchanged for the next few days, directing vigorous southerly winds and a large southerly swell along the coast. The low is expected to gradually weaken and move away during this weekend, while the high drifts slowly east, bringing a gradual shift to northeasterly winds in the middle part of next week.
