No go at Dee Why for surfers this morning
Hello Friends,
Clearing skies over Sydney as Wednesday kicked off, but out at sea the swell was 0.9 metres at 8 seconds from the ESE and wind was 5-7 kts WSW at 0800. But, as you can see from the pics, it’s too small to surf at Dee Why. Better exposures looked to be in the knee to waist high range, but quality was pretty ordinary (ie gutless) because of the short period.
From tomorrow we should see the expected south pulse to begin filling in, but as you can see from the BoM forecast below, we’ll be getting southerly wind with it. And it’ll be rainy. As we get into the weekend, the swell and wind should start to move around to the SE. There might be a little window on Sunday morning when the wind backs off and swell is SE at 2 metres and 10 seconds apart.
We’ll see!
Go well everyone and catch you again tomorrow.
Weather Situation
Winds are shifting north to northeasterly this afternoon as the high weakens and a trough approaches from the west. The trough is expected to cross the coast early Wednesday, bringing a west to southwesterly change to central and northern waters. A low pressure centre is forecast to deepen off the central coast into Wednesday as strong high develops well to the south, with the potential to bring increased winds and swell during the latter part of the week.
