Cold and grey start to Tuesday

0 277

Hello Friends,

An icy 8C as Tuesday morning got started. Wind was out of the WSW at 8-10 kt at 0730 and swell out at sea was 2.3 metres at just 8 seconds from 169° (SSE). First tide of the daylight hours was the 1.3 m high at 0750. It’s back to low at 1315. The Bureau tells us that the swell – such as it is – will fade back to a metre as the day goes along. As the pictures show, there was a tiny wave to be had at the point and, presumably, along the beach. But gee you’d want to be keen.

According to the swell models this morning, we’re in for a week of tiny conditions but by Sunday a vigorous south change could dial things back up. From here it looks like only the most protected south corners will be approachable for two or three days. But by mid-next week… maybe possibly… it’ll come together for us.

Have a great Tuesday and stay warm!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system will drift across southeast Australia today in the wake of a southerly change moving along the New South Wales coast. This high will weaken and shift to the Tasman Sea on Wednesday, with winds gradually turning east to northeast in most areas, before a feeble trough brings another southerly change to the southern half of the coast. Behind this, a new high is forecast to strengthen south of the Bight during the latter part of the week then extend a ridge across the southern Tasman Sea. This pattern looks set to deliver a more vigorous southerly change to the entire coast later Thursday and Friday. There is potential for strong winds to linger in some areas through the weekend, depending on the evolution of a trough in the region, with current computer models quite varied in their prognoses.
