Waves before the wind this morning

0 12

Hello Friends,

The N’er will dominate proceedings today, but if you got in early there were chest plusses here and there. The pictures probably make it look a bit more exciting than it really was. Swell at sea was 1.3 metres and coming from the ESE at 10 seconds apart and tide was coming into the 0830 high when I grabbed the snaps. The waves would stand up well enough, but then all too often, get swallowed up by the full conditions.

We’re heading to a high of 31C and the water’s on a lovely 22C, so it’s worth getting in just to bask in the conditions.

Outlook is for the swell regime to align more with the wind by tomorrow, so that means short period NE wind swell. From the look of the forecast models, the Christmas week will not be graced with significant swell. Basically it looks like standard issue summer conditions, ie weak and small mainly north to NE wind bump which will be at its best early.

Go well with your Saturday and take the mask when you go into crowded spaces!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. This ridge will be the dominant feature for the coming days as the high moves east. North to northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen on the weekend ahead of an approaching cold front. This front will bring a strong southwesterly change to southern waters late on Sunday and then weaken as it moves north on Monday.
