Little waves for Friday morning
Hello Friends,
Good news, in case you hadn’t heard, PEP11 has been knocked on the head following a concerted campaign by Surfrider Foundation and others. So, no gas drilling off the Sydney coastline!
Swell at sea was 2 metres from the S-SE at 7 seconds apart this morning and it was delivering the occasional shoulder high wave face. The problem was that because the period is so short, the only real energy came from dropping in. Otherwise the waves were flat-faced and flabby. Still, the water’s warmed up to 22C and it is definitely rideable with the right equipment. Just a soft and cruisy summer wind swell on a cloudy morning with the odd sunny break.
Tide was high at 0755 and will be back to low at 1435. The light SSW breeze was still going at 0900, but the forecast tells us to expect it to drift around to the easterly quarters before settling into a NE’r this afternoon.
Wondering about the weekend and week ahead prospects? Well, it’s Friday, so there’s a fresh new forecast from the Goat awaiting your contemplation.
Go well, get the third dose and mask up indoors!
Weather Situation
A trough lies over coastal waters close to the Queensland border. A high off the south coast extends a ridge north along the coast. This ridge will be the dominant feature for the coming days as the high moves east. North to northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen on the weekend ahead of an approaching cold front.
