Solid storm surf

0 7

Hello Friends,

The ocean was very active this morning. Set wave faces at Dee Why point were overhead and pretty consistent. Swell looked very raw though, with lots of size, but also lots of sections dropping over thanks to the general chaotic lumpiness. Despite the ruggedness, there were heaps of folks in the water chasing their chances.

Wind blew SW to WSW all night and it was still SW 10-20 kts at 0830. The forecast calls for it to pick up into the 15-25 kt range as it goes southerly. Swell at sea was 3 metres at 11 seconds from 156°(SSE) and the Bureau says it should continue at that intensity all day. Low tide is a not very low 0.7m at 1000, filling back into an equally modest 1.4m high at 1610.

Swell is set to fade a touch overnight and the wind will continue southerly, so Monday probably won’t be all that red hot. Tuesday morning currently shaping to be better on the wind front, but with a much faded swell. After that it looks as though things get even quieter…

Stay safe and go well!

Weather Situation

A coastal low pressure system off the southern coast is slowly moving to the southeast, while a high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge through the west. A fresh to strong and gusty southerly flow extending along most of the coast will ease during today as the low moves away and the high becomes dominant. The next trough is forecast to move through southern waters on Wednesday.
