Offshore lines and sunny skies to start

0 10

Hello Friends,

Definitely waves around this morning at Dee Why. Swell was showing at the point, but appeared to mostly be too small to do anything. Up the beach straighthanders were the rule, but at least you could jag a brief chest high moment on a lightly offshore morning under sunny skies. Speaking of wind, at 0730 it was still coming from the NW at 8-13 kts, but the forecast tells us it’ll swing SW and build into the 25-30 kt range by late afternoon. Tide’s high at 1410 or so. Swell at sea was 1.5 metres from the SSE at 8 seconds, so not exactly super powerful. The morning sesh will likely be the best combo and then tomorrow the wind goes south and the south swell builds into the 2 to maybe 3ish metre range.

For the week ahead outlook, it is my pleasure to refer you to the wisdom of the Mighty Goat

Go well!

Weather Situation

A ridge extending from a high pressure system near New Zealand is currently maintaining north to northeasterly winds along the New South Wales northern coast. Meanwhile, strong to gale force south to southeasterly winds are developing along the southern coast in association with a coastal low pressure system. The strong to gale force winds will tend south to southwesterly and extend north to the Sydney coast during the day as the low deepens and drifts slightly offshore. A generally fresh to strong and gusty southerly flow will then extend along most of the coast during Saturday as the low moves over the central Tasman Sea. These winds are expected to ease on Sunday as the low moves further away from the region.
