Blustery morning along the beaches

0 8

Hello Friends,

15-25 kts of southerly blasting the beaches all night and into this morning. Swell at sea was 3.3 metres at seconds from the ESE. Had it not been for the wind, wave possibilities might have been reasonable. Instead, we’re left with the protected south corners where the water quality is still pretty suss according to Beachwatch.

Outlook is for both wind and swell to fade over the next 24 hours, so maybe tomorrow there will be a few fun ones in the mix for the early… beyond that this morning’s swell models show a steady decline back to tiny to flat for the remainder of the work week. The latest long range forecasts aren’t looking very interesting unfortunately. Spring… blergh.

Go well with your day and shout out of thanks to all those who joined the Line in the Sand yesterday afternoon despite the very ordinary weather in the lead up.

Weather Situation

A high south of the continent combined with a trough located well off the NSW coast is pushing a southerly flow up the New South Wales coast. The high extends a ridge to the southern Tasman Sea and will be located east of Tasmania on Sunday and Monday, allowing southerly winds along the coast to moderate on today and then tend southeast to northeasterly on Monday.

Forecast for Sunday until midnight

Winds
Southerly 15 to 25 knots decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the evening.
Seas
1.5 to 2 metres.
Swell
Southeasterly 2.5 to 3 metres.
Weather
Cloudy. 50% chance of showers.
Caution
Large and powerful surf conditions in the morning are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

Monday 29 November

Winds
Southerly 10 to 15 knots becoming variable below 10 knots in the morning.
Seas
Around 1 metre.
Swell
Southeasterly 1.5 to 2.5 metres, decreasing to 1.5 metres by early evening.
Weather
Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 30 November

Winds
East to northeasterly at 10-15 knots.
Seas
Below 1 metre.
Swell
Southeasterly 1.5 metres, decreasing to around 1 metre during the morning.
Weather
Cloudy.
Weather was terrible right up to half an hour before the Line for Sand not Concrete formed up yesterday afternoon. Even so, a couple hundred folks braved the elements to show their support for their beach.
