Thumping swell for Sunday morning

0 31

Hello Friends,

Three metres of 13-second dead south swell was lighting up the point and the beach as Sunday kicked off. Set wave faces were in the head to maybe 1.5x overhead range and naturally there were healthy numbers in the water to greet them. Skies were sunny and wind was coming lightly from the west as of 0830. Tide was moderately high at 0530 and will hit a 0.7m low at 1110. Given that the swing is only 0.6m, I’d say on that front, what you see is what you’ll get today. The light wind should swing to the S-SE as the morning goes along and then settle to the NE this afternoon. Ocean temp is on 20C and we should see a high of 22C along the beaches.

Obviously not a morning for beginners, but confident intermediates to advanced wave riders with high crowd tolerances should have a good time.

Outlook is for the swell to fade out overnight, leaving only a few little scraps at south magnets by tomorrow morning.  The rest of the week looks pretty quiet at this stage, but there does appear to be some slight hope of another south pulse by next weekend…

Go well!
