Zippo Monday
Hello Friends,
Yesterday’s little waves went away overnight. There was still a strong scent of smoke in the air from the burning off that’s been going for a few days now but it looked to be reasonably clear down at Dee Why. There were a few folks on SUPS poking around for little bumps, however I’d say the sets aren’t much above knee high.
Out at sea, the buoys were detecting a metre of 13 second (!) energy from the south (173°), so in theory, there might be the odd waist plus high bomb at the magnets.
Wind was out of the NNW at 0800 and it’s expected to come around to the SW this afternoon. The good news is that as it does, the swell should start to come up. The Bureau (see below) tells us to expect 2-3 metres of south swell and SW wind tomorrow morning, building to 3-4 metres in the late afternoon (but accompanied by southerlies). Then it looks as though the pulse and wind will fade on Wednesday. So, some hope for those of us lucky enough to be in a beach bubble.
Go well with your Monday, mask up if you’re going for one of the approved reasons and get jabbed as soon as you can.
Weather Situation
A cold front is skimming across the south coast, bringing a southwesterly wind change to coastal waters today. Winds will gradually ease and tend southerly tomorrow as a new high pressure system near the Bight extends a ridge across the state. This high will be the dominant feature as it slowly moves ease this week.
