Cool USA skateboarder Jagger Eaton, 20, wears AirPods and has phone in pocket on his way to historic Tokyo Olympic medal
JAGGER EATON wore AirPods and had his phone in his pocket as skateboarding took centre stage in Tokyo.
For the first time ever, skateboarding was competed at the Games and took place in the blistering heat in Japan.
Skateboarding joins surfing and sports climbing as new sports at the Olympics this summer.
It comes with organisers and broadcasters hoping to attract new and younger audiences.
Park and street skateboarding was accompanied by music playing around the course built on Tokyo’s picturesque waterfront.
In the street discipline, athletes make timed runs over a course made up of slopes, stairs and rails.
And American Eaton, 20, stole the show with his earphones in and phone in his pocket.
He impressed the panel of judges, who cast their verdict on difficulty, originality, speed, timing and execution.
So much so that Eaton, from Arizona, walked away with a bronze medal.
It was Japan’s Yuto Horigome who won the first ever Olympic gold medal in skateboarding.
And Kelvin Hoefler of Brazil took home the silver.

Eaton’s grandfather, Stormy, and father Geoff were gymnastics coaches to young women at Olympic level.
Jagger said: “That was always the main goal for gymnasts, making it to the Olympics and, for me, it was never not on the table.
“The fact that I get the opportunity to do that for the family legacy is pretty special.”
