Be careful

0 14

Hello Friends,

Huey’s dialling it up today, so if you’re jumping in, know your limits. As of  0740 swell was 2-3 metres at 10 seconds from the SSE (168°). At 0800 the wind was coming from the WSW at 10-15 kts, but as the forecast below indicates, it’s going to ramp up into the 20-30 kt range during the morning. Swell could be twice its current size by this afternoon. And then we’re in for blasting southerlies through the weekend.

Here’s what the Goat says
Had a look at Curly this morning around 0930. Wind was coming up but there were some sizable sets in the mix and it was really consistent. Around at Dee Why, surface conditions were much nicer, but the swell energy was almost totally missing the point and it was kind of fat looking along the club to No Mans stretch where yesterday evening it had looked all time. The 1.5 m high tide at 0945 probably wasn’t helping.

It should be quite a different scene later…

Slow, inconsistent point

Hooking one at mid Curly

ps: got the Astra Zenica jab yesterday arvo, so woohoo! I only wish the Feds had used the last year to organise jabs for everybody by now. The pm said 4 million by June and we’re at just 500k. There are health workers, elderly folk and lots of folks reading this still waiting to get protected.

Weather Situation
A vigorous south to southwesterly airstream has developed along the New South Wales Coast in the wake of a cold front currently over the Tasman Sea. Strong to gale force southerly winds will develop along the New South Wales coast as the tail end of another front associated with a low pressure system developing near New Zealand sweeps the coast today. As the low deepens, a powerful southerly swell is expected to generate hazardous and damaging surf conditions across all waters, extending through the weekend.
