Barton back in prison after being charged with assault
March 11 – Joey Barton has once again found himself at the centre of legal trouble after being charged in connection with an alleged assault outside a golf club in yet another episode in a long and turbulent history between football notoriety and criminal controversy.
The 43-year-old former Manchester City and Newcastle United midfielder has been in custody since the incident at Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on Sunday evening.
Barton is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates’ Court alongside Gary O’Grady,
