Cowboys crush ORU to open season

0 1

STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) -- Year 2 of the Steve Lutz era got started with a 95-71 win over in-state foe Oral Roberts.

The Cowboys were without Anthony Roy, Isaiah Coleman, Ben Ahmed, and Lefteris Mantzoukas, but showed off the depth of scorers they possess this season. OSU had five players reach double digits with LSU transfer Vyctorious Miller leading the way with 21 points.

Oregon State transfer Parsa Fallah had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. UAB transfer Christian Coleman had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. UMass transfer Jaylen Curry flirted with a triple-double, tallying up 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Andrija Vukovic chipped in with 11 points.

The Golden Eagles kept things close throughout the first half, trailing 50-46 at the break, before OSU turned things up a notch in the second half to pull away. The Cowboys continue to show they can score the ball in bunches this year, which should excite fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena this season.

OSU faces a bigger challenge in its next game when the Cowboys welcome Texas A&M into Stillwater on Sunday Nov. 9.
