UFC Fight Night video: Tatsuro Taira makes easy work of Hyun Sung Park with quick submission
Tatsuro Taira put his first loss far back in the rear-view mirror.
The 25-year-old Japanese flyweight made quick work of Hyun Sung Park in Saturday’s UFC Vegas 108 main event, needing a little more than a round to lock in a face crank and force a tap from the short-notice replacement.

It was all Taira from the start. A minute into the opening round, Taira caught Park with a pair of right hands to score a knockdown and take control of the action. Though Park survived that initial onslaught, he never presented any meaningful threat to Taira, who was looking to rebound from his first-ever loss, a back-and-forth battle with top contender Brandon Royval this past October.

Taira stayed aggressive in Round 2, scoring a takedown early and methodically working to take Park’s back. He secured a face crank and held on for the submission, which officially came at the 1:06 mark of the second round.
With the win, Taira improves to 17-1 as a pro and 7-1 in the UFC.
Park suffers his first loss in 11 pro bouts after stepping in on less than a week’s notice for Amir Albazi, who was not medically cleared to compete Saturday. Prior to the late change, Park was actually scheduled to compete next Saturday at UFC Vegas 109 against one-time flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg.
