Pete Crow-Armstrong Just Did What?!?!?!

0 0

Pete Crow-Armstrong has arrived in a big way. The Cubs center fielder struggled in the first half of his rookie season, but turned it around to end 2024. Still, heading into this year fans wondered if PCA could continue his success at the plate or if he’d regress. Well, he’s responded by making MLB history in the month of April.

Crow-Armstrong was recently mocked online after reports surfaced that he turned down a $75 million contract extension from the Cubs. At the time, the left-handed hitter was off to a sluggish start, slashing .200/.273/.250, in 67 plate appearances.

Well, since he was made fun of PCA has literally been the best hitter in MLB.

From April 13-23, Crow-Armstrong has posted a 329 wRC+ in 38 plate appearances. That’s 52 points higher than the next best batter. During this nine-game stretch PCA has a slash of .472/.486/.1.083.

In Wednesday’s 7-6 win over the Dodgers at Wrigley Field Crow-Armstrong was 3-for-4, with a home run, 4 RBI and he also stole two bases.

After his three-hit performance Crow-Armstrong raised his season slash line to .294/.339/.549, a 146 wRC+. Over on Fangraphs PCA currently has the third-highest fWAR in MLB at 1.8 among all qualified players. That also ranks second-best in the National League, trailing Corbin Carroll, who’s at 1.9 fWAR.

And here’s the jaw-dropping history that PCA has reached. The center fielder is up to 5 home runs, 10 stolen bases and has 15 extra-base hits. He is the first player to EVER reach those numbers before the end of April in MLB history.

He recently had a seven-game, extra-base hit streak that was snapped on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Well, no problem because PCA has started a new streak, hitting a home run and double on Tuesday, followed by his three-run home run on Wednesday.

This guy, this guy is special.
