CUBS WIN CRAZIEST GAME OF 2025
(KEEP SCROLLING FOR UPDATE)
The last time the Cubs played the Diamondbacks the bullpen gave up eight runs in the eighth inning, which led to a 10-6 loss. In Friday’s series opener at Wrigley Field, the bullpen allowed 10 runs and this time the Cubs blew a 7-1 lead in the eighth inning, losing an incredibly shitty game.
Gage Workman, who came in to play third base in the top of the eighth inning, assisted in the shit-show as his fielding blunder with two outs allowed Arizona to score the tying and go-ahead run.

The collapse began with Jordan Wicks allowing three hits on five pitches as the lefty made his season debut after being called up from Triple-A on Friday. Craig Counsell immediately went to Porter Hodge to protect a 7-1 lead with Cubs killer Eugenio Suárez due up to bat.
Hodge has been the best reliever for the Cubs all season, so naturally Suárez belted a grand slam off of him.

The Diamondbacks followed that with a couple more base runners. Yet, Hodge battled back and struck out Corbin Carroll for the second out of the inning and then got to two strikes on Geraldo Perdomo.
Hodge wasn’t able to put Perdomo away. The switch-hitter made it 7-6 with a hard-hit ball up the middle that glanced off Hodge’s glove, which prevented both runs from scoring. Then, Workman’s error happened.
Ethan Roberts came in after Hodge and the righty hung a slider that Lourdes Gurriel Jr. blasted for a three-run homer. From a 7-1 lead in the top of the eighth, the Cubs entered the bottom half down 11-7.
UPDATE
THE CUBS WON 13-11!!!
The Cubs just won the craziest game of 2025. After the bullpen gave up 10 runs in the eighth the Cubs offense responded with six runs of their own. Carson Kelly hit a three-run homer, his second long ball of the game. Then, Kyle Tucker gave them the lead with a two-run bomb and Seiya Suzuki went back-to-back, providing insurance.

After all that Ryan Pressly came in for the save and you knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Michael Busch saved extra bases with a great defensive play for the second out. Then, after a two-out double by Alek Thomas, Carroll came up as the tying run.
Pressly got Carroll to fly out to left and the Cubs won 13-11. Insane. This was a 2-1 game headed to the bottom of the seventh inning.
