Hill vs. Rountree rebooked to headline first UFC Baku event; Kyoji Horiguchi’s return set
Third time’s the charm for Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree.
The UFC announced on Friday that Hill and Rountree will headline the promotion’s first ever trip to Baku, Azerbaijan, which takes place June 21. The pairing have been scheduled twice before, including for the original main event spot of UFC Kansas City later this month before Hill was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Hill looks to get back on track after suffering back-to-back stoppage losses against past champs Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. “Sweet Dreams,” a former light heavyweight champ himself, looks for his first win since winning the title against Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 283 in January 2023.
Rountree also suffered a stoppage loss to Pereira at UFC 307 this past October, which halted his five-fight win streak.
The UFC also announced the promotional return of Kyoji Horiguchi, who makes his first octagon appearance in almost nine years. The former RIZIN and Bellator champ faces Tagir Ulanbekov.
Additionally, the heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Rizvan Kunien is set to take place on the card.
