Teven Jenkins Update Brings 2 Pieces Of Good News For The Bears

0 15

Once the Chicago Bears traded for Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney two weeks ago, the writing was on the wall. Teven Jenkins had played his last snap for the organization. It was a sad result to what looked like such a promising relationship. Jenkins looked dominant at times during his stint with the team, showcasing his overwhelming power and nifty athleticism. Sadly, he never managed to overcome his persistent health issues. Not once did he start a full season for the Bears.

That said, Jenkins still managed to do his former team a favor. Thanks to the current formula, his new contract with the Cleveland Browns opens up the possibility of Chicago receiving a 7th round pick in the 2026 draft.

While not a high choice, it would give the Bears more flexibility next year. However, it gets better. Some were shocked that Jenkins signed for so little, considering his quality play and how soft the guard market was. Seth Walder of ESPN believes the deal makes what the Green Bay Packers gave Aaron Banks look ugly by comparison.

Teven Jenkins stuck it to the Packers one last time.

If you’re comparing him and Banks, it’s clear the Browns got the far better deal. While the latter may have a little more stability health-wise, Teven Jenkins is the superior player. The fact he’s making almost $16 million less this season than Banks is laughable. It pokes another hole in this mystique that the Packers are masters of roster-building and immune to mistakes. That a former Bears guard helped this revelation come to light is pure poetry. Either way, one can only wish Jenkins the best. He was an absolute professional from start to finish during his time in Chicago. He gave 100% of everything he had. It’s sad his body betrayed him. In another timeline, he might’ve become one of the NFL’s best. Hopefully, he finds new life in Cleveland.
