Jai Opetaia is on a hot streak, and David Nyika is the latest challenger to fall to the Australian’s heavy hands.
At a boxing event in Gold Coast, Australia, on Tuesday, Opetaia successfully defended his IBF cruiserweight title with a brutal fourth-round knockout of the previously undefeated David Nyika.

The closing sequence saw Opetaia land a perfect right uppercut that dropped Nyika to the canvas. Surprisingly, Nyika managed to answer the count, though he looked like he was still dazed when the action resumed.
Sure enough, Opetaia pressed his advantage, stalking Nyika and forcing him back to the ropes. Opetaia let fly with another zinging right hand, then two more power punches that left Nyika briefly tangled up in the ropes before he collapsed face-down on the mat.
It was the sixth straight title fight win for Opetaia, who is currently recognized as cruiserweight champion by the IBF and The Ring. He improved to 27-0 with his 21st knockout win.
Nyika suffers his first pro loss after knocking out nine of his first 10 opponents. He stepped in as an injury replacement for IBF mandatory challenger Huseyin Cinkara, who withdrew from the bout due to an ankle injury.
