Luka Doncic won a $100,000 bet with Dereck Lively on an incredible 1-handed full-court heave

Luka Doncic makes things that aren’t normal on a basketball court look very easy. And his track record of doing the improbable is long enough that anyone should know not to challenge him.

Underhand scoop shots from the 3-point line? Sure. Floaters from three? OK. Backwards half-court shots with one hand? Yeah, no problem. Even his shots from several rows behind the stanchion look easy.

He’s not exactly the person to bet trick shots against.

Dereck Lively II apparently didn’t get the memo, because his reaction to Doncic’s one-handed full-court heave during the Dallas Mavericks’ open practice Sunday made clear he had a stake in the result. And it didn’t go his way.

A thrown towel at his teammate? Yeah, Lively clearly was not expecting that to go in. But surely, he didn’t put more than a few bucks on the shot, right? Right?!

Wrong.

After a user on X how much Lively lost in the bet, Doncic responded with the hefty six-figure price tag on that shot: $100,000. And he made sure to tag Lively just in case the big man tried to forget.

Lively seemed to confirm the bet in a response to his teammate, simply submitting to the wizardry we all know Doncic is capable of pulling off.
