Patrick Mahomes astonishingly pulled off a behind-the-back touchdown pass during Chiefs training camp

Over the course of Patrick Mahomes’ already-legendary NFL career, we’ve seen him pull off some unthinkable throws. But with the Chiefs chasing a historic Super Bowl three-peat, Mahomes appears to have even more in his bag to show off.

As the Chiefs were running through some red-zone plays in 11 v. 11 at Wednesday’s training camp, Mahomes took the snap and rolled out wide in what initially looked like a play designed for Travis Kelce. But then, Mahomes did the absolute unthinkable.

In a perfectly timed toss, Mahomes went behind his back on a pass to Isiah Pacheco who walked in untouched for the score against a stunned defense.

Part of me wishes we didn’t get to see this on tape during camp because could you imagine if the Chiefs ran this play in a game without everyone knowing of its existence? But Andy Reid has rarely been known to avoid a gutsy play call. And if Mahomes shows in practice that he can actually pull that pass off, who knows — we might see it in a real game.

Just the fact that Mahomes threw a behind-the-back touchdown in practice was enough to impress NFL fans.
