Revenge, as well as future undisputed glory, was on the mind of Aspinall as he’d suffered a horror knee injury in his first meeting with Blayes two years ago.

And it served it in a cold fashion with a brutal stoppage win over the American.

Aspinall knocked out the man-mountain a mere sixty seconds into their Co-op Live Arena clash to defend his title and send a stark reminder of his skills to undisputed champ Jones.

And he was quick to send a message to ‘Bones’ in his post-fight interview.

He said: “I just spoke to the boss man and he wants to see Tom Aspinall versus Jon Jones.”

The Atherton assassin added: “Hello, Jon.

“I have nothing against you personally, I just think I’m better than you. I just know I can beat you.

Aspinall came out light on his feet as he usually does and looked to feint his way into range.

Bladyes looked calm cool and composed as he uncorked a big right hand.

And he found a home for stiff one two a few seconds later that got the respect of the champion.

Aspinall wasn’t deterred by the crushing blow and waded back into the fire, landing a right hand of his own before briefly securing a cliche against the cage.

They eventually separated and went back to the middle of the cage.

And Aspinall blew the roof off the arena by sitting down Blaydes with a stiff left hand.

Aspinall smelled blood in the water and immediately jumped on the flattened-out Blaydes.

He rained down hellfire, prompting referee Mac Goddard to warn Blaydes to defend himself.

But he was unable to, prompting Goddard to wave off the contest and sent the Co-op Live into a state of pandemonium.
