Caitlin Clark trying to avoid taking pictures on the WNBA's orange carpet was so relatable

I may never know what it’s like to drop 19 assists and set a single game record, or record a triple-double as a rookie, but it turns out Caitlin Clark and I are much more alike than I ever could have imagined.

We both absolutely loathe being told to stand indefinitely for pictures we’ll never look at again.

At least in my case, I typically have to do it to appease my mother (You try saying no to her! It’s impossible. She asks in a tone somewhere between Oliver Twist begging for more porridge and the all-powerful voice from Dune that you can’t fight off.)

In Clark’s case, it’s a horde of media and paparazzi at the WNBA All-Star weekend’s orange carpet. And like a seasoned child of a Kodak moment-obsessed parent, Clark did her best to slyly sneak past the step and repeat before being forced to pose for the cameras.

The look of pain on her face as she’s told to go back and smile is one I know deeply.

She almost made it to freedom. Almost.
