Many draft picks from the 2024 class have already signed their contracts. Some teams have successfully signed all their picks. However, 12 first-round picks remain unsigned, including two from the Bears: Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze. It’s common for first-round picks, especially the first and ninth overall, to take longer to finalize their contracts. The delay typically involves minor details like language and wording. Here’s what Williams is expected to sign.

“Rookie contracts are slotted by draft pick, and Williams’ four-year deal is expected to be worth $39,486,057 with a $25,537,132 signing bonus. The deal, which should include a club option for the fifth year in 2028, is expected have a salary-cap number of $7,179,283 for this season.”

Caleb Williams isn’t worried.

When asked for an update on his rookie contract, Williams deflected, stating that his team is handling it and that he is fully focused on football. There is optimism that a deal will be reached between the Bears and Williams before training camp. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune offered a positive update on the current status of the negotiations.

“At this juncture, there’s no reason for concern that the Bears won’t sign Williams before training camp opens, which will be a week earlier than usual because the team is playing in the Hall of Fame Game against the Houston Texans on Aug. 1 in Canton, Ohio.”

Regarding Rome Odunze’s contract, there hasn’t actually been an update yet, but just like with Caleb Williams, there’s no reason for concern.
