Horse racing punter bags life-changing £140,000 from £110 thanks to record-breaking 300-1 outsider

A LUCKY racing punter celebrated a life-changing £140,000 win – thanks to a record-breaking 300-1 outsider.

The bettor put £110 on a ‘quaddie’ bet – where he picked the winners of four races.

And it all came down to the final contest, where the punter’s pick won by just half a length.

The bettor could select any number of winners from the races on offer, but was helped by some massive outsiders.

One of those was 300-1 Lunar Fox, the biggest-priced Group 1 winner in Australian horseracing history.

He broke the long-standing record of Abaridy, who won the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas at odds of 250-1 in 1986.

That major upset came after the punter backed 5-1 shot Best Of Days to turn over the favourite in another race at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne last weekend.

But the longshot winners didn’t stop there, with the bettor scoring on 50-1 winner Capriccio too.

It all came down to the final leg, where, for once, he followed the money and went for a well-backed horse.

But it was a real nail-biter, with Chaillot obliging by just half a length odds of around 3-1.

All in all it meant the punter bagged a total of £141,292 from a £110 stake.

A number of shrewd punters have enjoyed some big wins in recent days.

Another was one Paddy Power customer who scooped £17,000 from a £2 bet after predicting an amazing 10,317-1 five-fold.
