Pogba defends Zlatan in Lukaku race row because ‘he loves me too much’ and Swede is ‘last person I’d think of as racist’

PAUL POGBA insists Zlatan Ibrahimovic could not have racially abused Romelu Lukaku – as the Swede ‘loves me too much’.

Former Manchester United team-mates Ibrahimovic and Lukaku were involved in a heated bust-up during last night’s Coppa Italia clash between fierce rivals AC and Inter Milan and exchanged angry words.

But Red Devils ace Pogba – who played with both men at Old Trafford – has come to Ibra’s defence on social media, tweeting that there was no way the Swede could be racist because they are such good friends.

The Frenchman wrote: “Zlatan… racist? He loves me too much so he’s the last person I’d think of as racist!

“Come on, don’t joke with that one.”

Ibrahimovic himself tweeted that he believes there is ‘no place’ for racism in society.

He wrote: “In ZLATAN’s world there is no place for RACISM.

“We are all the same race – we are all equal !! We are all PLAYERS some better then others [sic].”

It is claimed Ibrahimovic told Lukaku: “Go do your voodoo s***, you little donkey. Call your mother.”

Lukaku replied: “He wants to talk about mothers? Son of a b****.

“F*** you and your wife, you little b****.”

Ibrahimovic insisted after the game that his insult towards Lukaku was not racial.

It has also been speculated that the reference to voodoo and the Belgian’s mother could be linked to a transfer saga from his Everton days.
