And if you’re stuck for ideas with what to spend your wad on, fear not.

Here’s seven reasons why you will want a piece of Paddy Power’s New Year’s Day giveaway.

125,000 TUBS OF HAIR GEL

If you’re looking for maximum hold, you can do far wrong with Gummy hair gel, as worn so splendidly by Paddy Power tipster Matt Chapman.

And if you’re presumably looking to keep your hairdo in place for the rest of your life, you could buy £125,000 tubs of the gooey stuff with your £1million.

Just think, you’ll never need to run to Boots ever again. But where would you store it?

FIVE TICKETS TO SPACE

Come on.

We’ve all fancied ourselves as Neil Armstrong, and secretly harbour a desire to fly to space.

And that’s a genuine possibility if you’ve got a million quid in your sky rocket (see what we did there).

You can buy five tickets for a zero-gravity jaunt with Virgin Galactic at £175,000 a go for the family.

We can’t promise you’ll all get along on the 90-minute journey, mind.

Paddy Power Millionaire Chase - How to enter

To take part in the competition, punters simply need to back the winning horse in one of the weekly Millionaire Chase races.

The races are…

  • Qualifying race 1: Nov 14: Cheltenham 3.25pm
  • Qualifying race 2: Nov 21: Ascot 3.15pm
  • Qualifying race 3: Nov 28 Newbury 3.00pm
  • Qualifying race 4: Dec 5: Sandown 3.35pm
  • Qualifying race 5: Dec 12: Cheltenham 3.05pm
  • Qualifying race 6: Dec 19: Ascot 3.35pm

Anyone who backs the winner will be entered into a draw for a place in the deciding race at Cheltenham on January 1st, 2021, where finalists will be assigned a horse in the Paddy Power Handicap Chase at 2pm.

The finalist assigned the winning horse will receive a cool £1 million, with each runner-up still pocketing £10,000 per person.

200,000 WOODEN SPOONS

A dab hand in the kitchen or a present for a loser?

Either way, the wooden spoon can be creatively used as a kitchen utensil or as a prize for last place.

And because they usually come in a set, you’ll get value for your winnings to the tune of 200,000 wooden spoons.

Better watch Bake Off for some tips next.

HIRE ELTON JOHN FOR THE NIGHT

Ever fancied an evening with Sir Elton – pianoing out his greatest hits like Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer and Your Song?

Well, £1million could be enough to get you a personal gig with the singer, who could play live and direct in your living room.

However, if that living room isn’t the size of the stage at the Royal Albert Hall, he might struggle to bring along his sound crew.

And what if he doesn’t want to play Crocodile Rock on request?

20,000 JOCKEY COSTUMES

Because you can’t prepare for Halloween early enough.

If it’s your dream to go as Frankie Dettori or Ryan Moore for a fancy dress party, you’d do far wrong with this outstanding jockey costume.

This inflatable number even allows you to step into the legs of the horse, so you can play both roles like any character actor.

Giddy up!

166,000 NOVELTY SOCKS

There’s no getting away from it.

This Christmas, one of the many presents we’ll find in our stockings is a pair of socks.

One million pound gets you 166,000 of these novelty horse racing numbers – perfect for the gee-gee’s fanatic

You can even wear them when you go to Cheltenham.

Novelty horse racing socks could be yours… all 166,000 if your sock drawer is big enough

6,719 YEARS OF THE SUN

Priced at 60p an edition, you could buy 1.7million copies of The Sun from Monday to Friday with your winnings.

That’ll give you coverage of all the latest news and sport for the next 6,719 years.

How will the Premier League look then?
