UFC 255 medical suspensions: Joaquin Buckley needs clearance to avoid 6-month layoff

Viral sensation Joaquin Buckley needs a doctor’s clearance to avoid a six-month layoff for a possibly injured hand following UFC 255.

Buckley is among nine fighters who face long medical suspensions after this past Saturday’s pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, according to terms released by official ABC record keeper mixedmartialarts.com. If cleared, the suspensions will be removed from their records and they will be cleared to fight.

Buckley picked up his second straight UFC knockout win in a fight against Jordan Wright, who succumbed to punches just 18 seconds into the second round of the preliminary-card meeting.

Flyweight champion and UFC 255 headliner Deiveson Figueiredo notably avoided a suspension after a submission win over Alex Perez. That clears the way for a record turnaround when Figueiredo takes on Brandon Moreno at UFC 256 on Dec. 12.

Mike Perry: suspended until 01/06/21 with contact until 12/22/20 for contusions.

Tim Means: suspended until 12/22/20 with no contact until 12/13/20 for right knee.

Cynthia Calvillo: needs right shoulder MRI, if positive needs orthopedic doctor clearance or suspended until 05/21/21; minimum suspension runs until 12/22/20 with no contact until 12/13/20.

Mauricio Rua: suspended until 01/06/21 with contact until 12/22/20.

Brandon Royval: needs right shoulder MRI, if positive needs orthopedic doctor clearance or suspended until 05/21/21; minimum suspension runs until 12/22/20 with no contact until 12/13/20.

Joaquin Buckley: needs X-Ray of right hand X-Ray, if positive needs orthopedic doctor clearance or suspended until 05/21/21.

Jordan Wright: suspended until 01/06/21 with contact until 12/22/20.

Ariane Lipski: must have left orbital fracture cleared by ophthalmologist or no contest until 05/21/21; minimum suspension runs until 01/06/21 with no contact until 12/22/20.

Daniel Rodriguez: needs X-Ray of right hand X-Ray, if positive needs orthopedic doctor clearance or suspended until 05/21/21; minimum suspension runs until 12/22/20 with no contact until 12/13/20.

Nicolas Dalby: must have right foot and right elbow X-Rays, if positive must have orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until 05/21/21; minimum suspension runs until 12/22/20 with no contact until 12/13/20.

Alan Jouban: must have nasal bone fracture cleared by ear, nose and throat doctor or no contest until 05/21/21; minimum suspension runs until 01/06/21 with no contact until 12/22/20.
