UFC 254 breakdown: How will Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier play out?
The UFC 254 main event between undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim titleholder Justin Gaethje is getting the lion’s share of attention heading into Saturday’s event, and rightfully so.
But Saturday’s card at Flash Forum in Abu Dhabi features a co-main event that also has the potential to be an outstanding fight. Jared Cannonier will square off with former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a bout that could determine the next challenger for current titleholder Israel Adesanya.
Will Cannonier (13-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC), whom Adesanya already has proclaimed as his desired next opponent, come through? Or will Whittaker (21-5 MMA, 12-3 UFC) force his way back into the picture?
