How Arsenal could line up at Liverpool with Eddie Nketiah pushing Lacazette up front and David Luiz returning for Arteta

0 3

MIKEL ARTETA is looking to beat Liverpool for the third consecutive time when he takes his Arsenal squad to Anfield on Monday.

After winning at the Emirates last season followed by victory in the Community Shield in August, the Gunners go into the match high on confidence.

This is how Arsenal could line-up against Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night

And the North Londoners – who have won all four games this season in all competitions – are set to welcome David Luiz and Kieran Tierney back to the line-up.

Luiz hasn’t featured since Arsenal’s victory against the Reds at Wembley, while Tierney missed the clash against West Ham last week after suffering a minor injury in the warm-up.

But the club confirmed earlier this week how he will be fully fit for Monday’s clash against the Merseyside outfit.

Despite Bernd Leno starting in the Carabao Cup win against Leicester on Wednesday, the German will once again feature in the starting XI to face Liverpool.

Arteta is likely opt to start three centre-backs, with Rob Holding and Gabriel to play either side of the returning Luiz.

Hector Bellerin has impressed this term, and he will surely slot in at right wing-back, with Tierney to come in at left wing-back.

This would leave the likes of Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Bukayo Saka to start from the bench.

Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka could be trusted once again to start as the midfield two, despite Mohamed Elneny starring against the Foxes.

Willian will be hoping to feature as the right winger for the third straight match in expense of club-record signing Nicolas Pepe.

Meanwhile skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang will slot in on the left, with Alexandre Lacazette to potentially start ahead of Eddie Nketiah.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s clash, Arteta spoke of the relationship between Aubameyang and Lacazette.

He said: “I think the front players need to create a certain chemistry between them and that feeling that when they look at each other in the eyes, they understand each other, they communicate on the pitch to see what they are feeling.

“I think we are getting that with them at the moment. Not only them, but with Willian as well and the way he’s come in the team straight away.

“With Pepe, Bukayo – when he’s playing there – and with Reiss (Nelson). It’s really important, it’s something we try to promote in training as well.

“Hopefully they can keep linking and improving those relationships between them.”
