Matt Bryant was absolutely devastated after missing the tying PAT for the Falcons

0 4

The 2019 season has reached a level of high comedy for the Atlanta Falcons.

It really can’t get much worse.

Atlanta dropped to 1-5 on the season after losing Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, 34-33. But as we have learned over the years, the Falcons don’t just lose games by simply getting outplayed. They turn losing into an art form.

And this time, the loss came courtesy of one of the Falcons’ most reliable players: Matt Bryant.

The Falcons had rallied back from a 17-point deficit before allowing Kyler Murray and David Johnson to connect on a go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. With 1:53 remaining in the game, the Falcons drove down the field and scored a touchdown — an extra point away from tying.

Then … this happened:

Bryant shanked the point-after try, and he knew it immediately. It was his first PAT miss of the season.

The 44-year-old kicker was brought back out of presumed retirement because the Falcons’ kicking game was dreadful in the preseason. Bryant was supposed to be the sure thing — as he’s been his whole career in Atlanta — at the kicker position for the Falcons. So, yeah, Bryant missing in that situation perfectly summed up the 2019 season for Dan Quinn and company.

Bryant’s reaction from the sideline said it all.

That’s the look of another lost season in Atlanta.
