and that fighters bounce between lightweight and welterweight a significant amount.
But...
What if the UFC had a 165 lb. tournament? I think that's a hell of an idea. It would draw fighters from 145 to 170 (a lot of great competitors, with a level-ish playing field, and no current belt on the line, and would help break up the current log jams in these classes in some sense, plus it would be darn fun and entertaining mostly because of the unpredictability how lighter fighters would faire without the even more severe weight cut that 170ers would still have to go through.
Would it jack up the title race for the other 3 belts? Most likely but there's already endless interim belts there anyways.
