U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup: placement round Day 3

This is a full report of the games played during placement round Day 3 at the WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup.

The Czech Republic is back on track. The Czechs recovered after suffering a painful extra-inning loss against New Zealand with a 10-3 win against Brazil.

The Czech Republic broke a 1-1 tie scoring four in the bottom of the third on a grand slam by third baseman Eliska Stejskalova against Alissa Usami.

The Czech Republic didn’t need to look back and closed it one inning in advance scoring four more runs in the bottom of the sixth against reliever Jessica Noda.

The Czech offence combined 15 hits, with four hitters (Stejskalova, shortstop Saviola, centre fielder Kopicova and first baseman Slaba) enjoying a multi-hit game.

Anna Stenglova earned the win pitching the complete game and allowing three runs on eight hits.

The Netherlands clinched place 13 in the final standings with an 8-2 win against South Africa.
The Dutch scored three in the top of the first, capitalizing on two defensive errors through base hits by Uytendaal and Remmers.
Margot Van Eijl and Romy Van der Ham shared duties in the pitching circle.

super round day 3

Ireland beat Botswana, 8-3, to finish in fourteenth place. Alexis Clancy threw a complete game for the win, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out seven. Botswana got to her when Ireland had already built a comfortable five-run lead.

Irish second baseman and leadoff hitter Maura Keary went 3 for 4 and also shortstop Fiona Girardot and third baseman Elizabeth Doolan (three RBIs) enjoyed a multi-hit game.
