Last week, the Denver Convention Center overflowed with outdoor brands puffing their chests with glee as they unfurled the new latest and greatest winter gear. It was the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show, the biggest trade show in the outdoor industry.
Three times a year, the Denver Convention Center overflows with the latest, and raddest gear. Outdoor Retailer is the biggest tradeshow in the industry and, for us skiers, the Snow Show is what we truly care about.
It probably depends on where you do most of your skiing, but it seems to me that too much of our skiing experiences in 2019 are defined by newness. New lifts, new villages, new snowmaking systems, new après lounges, and, occasionally, new snow.
Photographing any kind of action sport is never easy. Add the white landscape of winter and the logistics of gravity sports, it is safe to say that shooting backcountry skiing or riding is certainly one of the most difficult – but certainly one of the most rewarding.
