BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A weekend shooting at LSU is prompting Gov. Jeff Landry to call for enhanced safety measures before the next home game.

The shooting Saturday night during LSU's homecoming game injured two people.

Baton Rouge Police said one of the two people shot was the intended target. Neither of the victim's injuries was said to be life-threatening.

On Monday, Landry stated that the violence would not be tolerated.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Landry posted:

"I have ordered the @LAStatePolice to work with LSU PD, BRPD, and EBRSO to come up with an enhanced security plan for the upcoming LSU/Texas A&M game. We will continue assessing the security to ensure all future games are safe. The level of violence and disruption will not be tolerated."

On Monday, Baton Rouge Police said they were still investigating the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
