Family of NYC shooting victim, Julia Hyman, mourns loss: 'Remarkable woman'
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — The family of the youngest victim of the horrific shooting in New York City on Monday laid her to rest on Wednesday with tears in their eyes and pain in their hearts.
27-year-old Julia Hyman was honored, mourned and remembered Wednesday morning by hundreds in Midtown's Central Synagogue. She was killed, along with three others, at the hands of Shane Tamura, who entered 345 Park Avenue with an AR-15 style rifle and opened fire.
Family members spoke to praise their lost loved one. "She was the source of immeasurable pride, deep connection and unwavering love," Hyman's uncle, Rob Pittman, said.
"Her life was full, her heart had room for everyone. [Julia] gave love freely and fully."
Hyman worked at Rudin Management as an associate for less than one year, according to her LinkedIn, before the tragedy struck. Rudin Management is the company that occupies the 33rd floor— the floor Tamura mistakenly went to when attempting to reach the NFL office.
Six of Hyman's cousins also spoke bravely of her with sadness on their faces.
"What made julia so cool was how real she was," one cousin said. "Our cousin group is simply so special. We hang out for 12 hours without plans. Eating, laughing, playing games, and talking. Julia was the energy."
The cousin began to break down in tears when giving their closing remarks.
"We will never be the same without you, Julia," they said. "We will miss you every second of every day."
