Man sentenced to 19 years for fatal shooting on Buffalo's Lower West Side

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A 36-year-old man was sentenced to 19 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision after he fatally shot another man last September on Buffalo's Lower West Side, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.

Officials said Raymond Torres, of no permanent address, shot the victim, 35-year-old Travis Martin, with an illegal gun near Seventh and Jersey Street around 4:22 a.m. on Sept. 19. Martin was transported to ECMC by ambulance where was was pronounced dead.

Torres pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in February.

His sentencing on Monday was his second as a violent felony offender, the district attorney's office said.
