Four-star ’26 shooting guard Ethan Johnston commits to Marquette
By SAM LANCE
Marquette has picked up a commitment from class of 2026 four-star shooting guard Ethan Johnston, he told ZAGSBLOG.
Johnston — the 6-foot-6, 185-pound guard from The Hill School (PA) and the NY Rens Nike EYBL AAU program — chose Marquette over offers from schools like Cal, Creighton, Georgetown, Maryland, Villanova and Virginia Tech.
“I chose Marquette because they value relationships, growth and victory,” Johnston told ZAGSBLOG. “There was no shortage of love. They made me feel a part of their family immediately. Beyond the basketball part, the coaches are just great people.”
In the first EYBL session of the season, Johnston averaged 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He helped the NY Rens to a 3-0 record while tallying four total steals. Johnston is ranked the No. 118 overall recruit in the 2026 class by 247Sports.
“I believe I bring a lot of versatility to the table,” Johnston said. “I can do everything. Whether we need a rebound, a three or an assist, I can do it at a high level. I’m prepared to do whatever I can to contribute to this program’s success.”
Johnston is Marquette’s first commit out of the 2026 class. Shaka Smart has his first man and more commits could come soon. Last cycle, Marquette had three commits before the end of Peach Jam.
