Crowley police investigate multiple shootings over holiday weekend

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- Crowley police said they have responded to multiple shootings over the holiday weekend.

Two shootings, one within the city limits and and one outside the city limits, occurred Friday evening. Both shootings involved two residencies being struck by stray rounds, police said.

The shooting within city limits resulted in one male victim suffering from a non-fatal single gunshot wound. At this moment, this investigation is still ongoing and is being handled by Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department, authorities said.

Another shooting occurred early Saturday morning in the area of 900 block of West 5th Street, authorities said. The shooting involved one male victim who suffered from a non fatal gunshot wound to the leg.

Later Saturday evening, an additional shooting was reported in the area of the 1700 block of West Hutchinson Avenue. There were no reported injuries from this shooting, but a vehicle was later located at the intersection of N Ave D and W 7th Street, that had been struck by multiple rounds, police said.

Authorities said they are following potential leads in the investigation of both of these cases and believe that these shooting not random by nature.

Police said these shootings seem to have allegedly been targeted, possibly gang related or stemming from precious incidents.
