$2 mil bond for connection to December shooting in Manhattan, injuring 3

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Law enforcement have arrested one person connected to a shooting that injured three people in Manhattan late last year.

The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) shared in a news release that just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28 a 22-year-old Manhattan resident was arrested in connection to a shooting that took place on Dec. 1, 2024.

The RCPD report that its License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras played a "critical role" in identifying the alleged suspect's vehicle that was linked to the shooting. Officers were able to locate and apprehend the individual without any troubles.

The 22-year-old Manhattan local was arrested on the probable cause offenses of the following:

  • 12 counts of attempted murder in the first degree.
  • Two counts of criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
  • Criminal damage to property.
  • Unlawful discharge of a firearm in city limits.

According to RCPD, the individual's total bond is $2 million.

Just before 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, officers responded to gunshots in the 1800 block of Claflin Road. The RCPD later found three people with gunshot injuries.
