Teen charged with murder in shooting death of Dubar Knowles

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 16-year-old boy was arraigned on multiple charges in connection to an October shooting a party in Schenectady. Dubar Knowles, 15, was killed, and a 13-year-old girl was injured.
According to the Schenectady County District Attorney's Office, the 16-year old is facing the following charges:
- Murder in the second degree, one count
- Assault in the second degree, two counts
- Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, two counts
- Reckless endangerment in the first degree, one count
- Tampering with physical evidence
He was sent to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
Officials said the accused shot Knowles through the chest while at a large party on Oct. 12, 2024 on Congress Street. The bullet traveled through his body and then struck a 13-year-old girl in the back of her head. Officials said she underwent emergency surgery and has largely recovered.
Knowles was a ninth grader at Schenectady High School. The injured girl is a student at Oneida Middle School.
