15-year-old suspect charged with murder in Saturday shooting, Jeanerette police say
JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A 15-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 23-year-old man, the Jeanerette Police Department announced Sunday.
In a social media post, Jeanerette police identified the victim as 23-year-old Jamul Sparrow Jr.
Police said the shooting was reported Saturday in the 1900 block of St. Charles Street. There, responding officers found the body of a man inside a vehicle.
Police said a 15-year-old juvenile, who was not named in the social media post, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. The juvenile faces charges of second-degree murder, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, and illegal use of weapons.
