PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Authorities have released the names of the Beaverton police officers involved in a shooting that left one man dead in Cascade Plaza on Monday evening.

Officers shot Jacob Daniel Bundy, 39, of Portland outside the Nordstrom Rack at 9175 SW Cascade Ave. after they “attempted to detain him” and he pulled out a gun, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“After a struggle in which Bundy fired his gun, Bundy was shot by police,” the office said on Monday.

Four days later, the sheriff’s office identified Ryan Garbutt and Juan Flores as the two police officers involved in the shooting. Officer Garbutt had spent 20 years with Beaverton police while Officer Flores was in his final phase of training with the department.

The Beaverton Police Department placed both officers on paid administrative leave, per standard protocol. Neither officer suffered any major injuries from the shooting.

An investigation through the Washington County Major Crimes Team remains ongoing.
