2 men wanted after adult, children injured in Spencer Loop shooting

NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) -- Two men are wanted in connection with a Monday evening shooting in New Iberia that left an adult and two children injured, according to the New Iberia Police Department.

Dartanion Boutte, 29, of Franklin, is wanted on seven counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of weapons, among other charges.

Davian Batiste, 23, of New Iberia, is wanted on seven counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of hit-and-run driving, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and other charges.

New Iberia police said in a news release Tuesday evening that the shooting was reported just before 5 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Spencer Loop.

Responding officers found two boys, ages 6 and 12, and an adult who had been shot, police said. The three victims were taken to a Lafayette hospital for treatment of their injuries. Police said the victims were in stable condition.

Police said an altercation occurred at the home between a man and a woman, whom the man had a child with. After the altercation, the man exited the home and got into the passenger seat of a vehicle, police said.

"The male then shoots towards the residence. While attempting to leave the scene, the drive[r] of the vehicle crashes into two vehicles," NIPD said in the news release.

Police said it was learned that several people were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
