6 people injured in overnight shooting in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Six people were shot and injured in a early morning shooting in Albany. According to the Albany Police Department, the shooting took place on the 600 block of Myrtle Avenue shortly after midnight on Friday.

Police responded to the home and found evidence of gunfire in that area. Albany police later found that six people were shot during a large gathering at that home but were no longer at the scene.

Around 12:20 a.m., police near Hudson Avenue and Quail Street were flagged down by a 17-year-old who was shot in the arm. He was brought to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

The five other victims self-transported to Albany Medical Center, said police. Those injured at the gathering include:

  • A 16-year-old from Schenectady with gunshot wounds to both legs
  • A 16-year-old from Schenectady with a gunshot wound to the butt
  • A 17-year-old from Albany with a gunshot wound to the arm
  • An 18-year-old from Schenectady with a gunshot wound to the thigh
  • A 19-year-old from Albany with a gunshot wound to the foot
  • A 19-year-old from Troy with a graze wound to the head and a gunshot wound to the elbow

All are being treated for their non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
