One dead in Tuesday night Lafayette shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- One person is dead after a shooting late Tuesday night in Lafayette, authorities said.

The victim has been identified as Toren Martin, 18, of Lafayette.

Just before midnight Lafayette Police received a 911 call regarding several shots being fired near an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Robley Drive. Officers found Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Martin was taken to an area hospital where they later died as a result of their injuries.

During the initial investigation officers located a vehicle possibly involved in the shooting traveling on a roadway nearby. Officers attempted a traffic stop at which time the vehicle refused to stop and fled. A vehicle pursuit ensued into Vermilion Parish, which ended in the Kaplan area and three suspects were taken into custody. They were booked on unrelated charges, police said.

The names of the suspects have not been released.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
