UCLA ‘mass shooting threat’ investigated after ‘researcher’s chilling 800-page manifesto email sent to staff’

THE University of California, Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating reports of a philosophy researcher sending threatening emails to faculty and students.

“Because his whereabouts are as yet unresolved, out of caution, everyone is permitted, and indeed I recommend, to hold your sections remotely until further notice,” read the email.

The email continues with examples of threats from the researcher who has exhibited “highly erratic behavior” since last spring.

“He had left the area as of June last year, but his whereabouts are currently being investigated because today he sent a barrage of threatening email [sic] to many in the department, and many others.

“The material includes a video entitled ‘UCLA Philosophy Mass Shooting’ and an 800-page manifesto with specific threats toward some members of the department.”

A YouTube channel possibly belonging to the researcher has been spread amongst UCLA students and it is where the video sent in the threatening emails came from.

Multiple videos on the account make overt references to past mass shootings and feature the alleged researcher making disparaging comments about the university.

The Sun has reached out to UCLA for comment.
