Shooting hoops and smacking pads: Bellator 273 open workouts video highlights

PHOENIX – Footprint Center will host MMA action Saturday, but Thursday it was the scene of the Bellator 273 open workouts.

Unlike other open workouts, didn’t solely include fighters smacking pads and showing off their form to reporters in attendance, no. In one of the more unique open workouts in recent memory, the fighters shot hoops on the Phoenix Suns hardwood before they began their training session.

Heavyweight champion Ryan Bader and underling Sullivan Cauley hurled up some half-court attempts, after Valentin Moldavsky and mentor Fedor Ememlianenko tried their luck with teammate Anatoly Tokov.

Benson Henderson and fellow former UFC fighters David Michaud and Yaotzin Meza battled in a game of knockout, that the former UFC lightweight champion came out on top in.
