San Jose: 19-year-old woman arrested in fatal shooting

SAN JOSE – Authorities on Thursday announced the arrest of a 19-year-old San Jose woman in connection with the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old woman in September.

Officers were called to the 5200 block of Monterey Road just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 23 for a report of a person shot, according to San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia. They arrived to find Kiia Marie Morris, 42, of San Jose, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death marked the city’s 26th homicide of the year.

Garcia said homicide detectives went on to identify Jennifer Del Real Sanchez as a suspect in the case.

On Wednesday, the San Jose Police Department’s Covert Response Unit arrested Sanchez in San Jose and booked her into Santa Clara County jail on a murder charge, according to Garcia.
